Obinna Pushes for State House Reward for Vurugu Fighters

Content creator Oga Obinna has revealed that he has engaged President William Ruto over a planned State House visit for fighters and referees who participated in the Vurugu boxing event held over the weekend.

The highly publicised Vurugu fight, staged at the Kasarani Indoor Arena, captured national attention after weeks of online hype.

The headline bout featured Majembe and Mbavu Destroyer, with Majembe emerging the winner after stopping his opponent in the fourth round.

The fight ended dramatically following a decisive punch that forced Mbavu to withdraw, handing Majembe a technical knockout victory.

The event was widely praised for providing a platform for raw, grassroots talent, with many Kenyans applauding its role in showcasing individuals often overlooked in mainstream sports.

According to Obinna, the proposed State House meeting aims to recognise and reward the fighters and officials involved.

He noted that the President is expected to support the participants in ways he deems appropriate, adding that an official date for the visit will be announced soon.

The initiative highlights the growing influence of digital creators in opening up opportunities for young people and bridging the gap between grassroots talent and national recognition.

However, Obinna has urged Kenyans not to politicise the planned visit, emphasizing that its primary goal is to celebrate talent and create opportunities rather than advance any political agenda.
