NPS Appeals for Vigilance and Information Sharing in Banditry Hotspots

The National Police Service (NPS) has called on Kenyans living in Meru, Isiolo, Samburu and Laikipia counties to share reports on banditry and related crimes.

In a statement on Saturday, March 21, 2026, NPS called on anyone with information that may assist the operation to report to the nearest police station or law enforcement officer.

It further revealed that the information can be shared through toll-free numbers 999, 911, 112, or anonymously through the Fichua kwa DCI hotline on 0800722203 or via WhatsApp at 0709570000.

Among the hotspot areas included Meru ,Mukogondo Forest in Laikipia, Lantana and Sereolipi in Samburu East, Kipsing and Ngaremara in Isiolo.

According to NPS, the plea follows several banditry cases that the police say have caused suffering in the areas.

“Cattle have been stolen, several lives have been lost, and injuries have been reported. This is totally unacceptable and must be eradicated,” the statement read.

“Residents in the targeted areas are urged to offer their maximum co-operation to security personnel, share intelligence, and ensure that banditry and related forms of criminality are brought to an end,” the statement added.

NPS further stressed on cooperation of residents will be crucial in dismantling criminal gangs and preventing further attacks on vulnerable communities.
