Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has announced the completion of the Ngong Road-Naivasha Road flyover.
According to reports, the 800-metre elevated dual carriageway, implemented by KURA, is designed to ease traffic congestion along the busy Ngong Road corridor by separating through-traffic from vehicles accessing Naivasha and King’ara roads.
This comes at a time when the government accelerating investments in transport infrastructure aimed at improving mobility within the capital.
According to the PS Omollo, once the flyover is operational, it is expected to improve access to the Talanta Stadium.
In addition, the flyover will reduce travel times between Ngong and Nairobi CBD, areas that traffic bottlenecks have long plagued during peak hours.
“Once fully operational, the flyover is expected to significantly ease congestion along one of Nairobi’s busiest transport corridors, drastically reduce travel times between Ngong and the Central Business District and improve connectivity to key urban facilities, including the nearby Talanta Stadium ahead of AFCON 2027,” PS Omollo said.
Omollo further revealed that the flyover will be operationalised soon, barely four weeks before the completion of Talanta Stadium.
Further reports indicate that tqhe construction of the project commenced in September 2024 and has been implemented by KURA.
The project has reportedly been fully funded by a loan of Ksh3.58 billion from the Spanish Corporate International Fund (FIEM)Further.
Furthermore, in February, President William Ruto announced that the overpass will be completed by June 2026.
