The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has summoned Kajiado Governor and Nominated MP Joseph Wainaina Iraya to appear before it and respond to remarks the commission is investigating.
In a statement on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, NCIC asked the two leaders to appear before the commission on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at its offices.
According to the commission, Lenku’s summons relates to remarks allegedly made while addressing residents Ewuaso Oonkidong’i in Kajiado West Constituency on August 22.
“PURSUANT, thereto you are hereby summoned to appear before the Commission situated at Britam Towers Upper Hill on 17th Floor on Thursday 17th September 2026 at 2:00 pm so as to assist the Commission with the ongoing investigations,” NCIC stated.
The governor made remarks calling for Maasai communities to assert their political representation in Kajiado and Narok and criticised political parties that nominate candidates from outside the community for positions in the two counties.
On the other hand, Iraya is being investigated over remarks made on August 29, in Kapseret in Uasin Gishu County.
The commission alleged that he referred to death while discussing what could prevent Ruto from winning the 2027 presidential election.
However, he reportedly said he was praying that such an occurrence would not happen.
“TAKE NOTICE that failure to appear in person at the aforementioned place, date, and time, will lead to warrants of arrest being issued for your arrest and production before the Commission and/or the institution of criminal and/or contempt proceedings against you,” the commission added.
