Narok Erupts in Violence Following Court Ruling on Land Claim by Governor’s Brother

Chaos erupted in Narok following a court ruling that awarded land to Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu’s brother.

The ruling, which was issued on Thursday, March 6 2025, left Governor Ntutu in shock as the court granted 4,000 acres of the alleged community land to Livingstone Ntutu.

Angered by the ruling, residents took it upon themselves to storm the land and set structures ablaze.

The demonstrations led to hundreds of Maasai residents who were gathered at the site to pluck grass and throw it into the air.

Reports indicate that it is an act to symbolize an oath in their culture.

While the authorities are yet to comment on the matter, Narok MP condemned the matter describing it as an act of injustice to the community.

“While we respect the court process, we strongly disagree with this ruling. We condemn this blatant land theft in the strongest terms possible. This is a calculated move to silence the community while their rightful land is stolen under the guise of legal proceedings,” the MP wrote.

Governor Ntutu, on the other hand, clarified that the dispute was between his brothers individually and not the Ntutu family.
