Nairobi’s Central Park, located next to Uhuru Park, has officially reopened to the public following a transformation aimed at improving the green space and enhancing its appeal.
The park reopened on Monday, September 14, giving Nairobi residents and visitors an opportunity to once again access the recreational facility as part of the city’s public green spaces.
The Nairobi County Government said the transformation had improved the park’s ambience, surroundings and overall appearance, making it more welcoming to members of the public.
The reopening is part of the county government’s efforts to turn its commitment to creating a clean and green Nairobi into practical initiatives with visible results.

Central Park is expected to provide residents with an additional space to relax, spend time with their families and reconnect with nature within the city.
The county government said the reopening also forms part of broader efforts to restore, protect and expand access to Nairobi’s public green spaces.
The initiative is intended to create more areas where families can spend time together, visitors can enjoy nature and residents can interact with the environment.
The county government also commended its Environment Team and other stakeholders involved in the transformation of the park.
The reopening marks another step in Nairobi’s efforts to develop and maintain greener public spaces across the capital, while improving recreational areas available to residents and visitors.
