Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) has denied claims of contaminated tap water circulating online.
In a statement, the water company insisted that there are no ongoing works in the mentioned areas that could cause such contamination.
This comes after residents in Nairobi West, Kilimani, Parklands, Westlands, and estates along Thika Road raised alarm over brown, murky water with a foul, sewage-like smell flowing straight from their taps.
According to Nairobi Water, the confusion stems from a single photo that has been recirculating online and has been wrongly linked to three separate locations at once.
“We have noted that the same photo is currently being shared online in reference to three different locations Nairobi West, Thika Road and Kilimani,” Nairobi Water stated.
In response to the matter, Nairobi Water has stated that its technical team has since carried out checks and found no ongoing pipeline works in any of these areas that could trigger contamination at this time.
“Our technical team has confirmed that there are no ongoing works in these areas that could result in contamination at this time,” It added.
The water company also said that it has already reached out to the customer who posted the original to identify the exact estate where the photo was taken.
It further said that it is still waiting for a response from that customer before it can pinpoint the precise location involved.
