Nairobi Expressway Introduces Temporary Night Diversion

Motorists travelling between Nairobi’s Central Business District and Westlands will enjoy temporary free access to the Nairobi Expressway.

In a statement by the Moja Expressway Company, the company revealed that the toll-free arrangement will be in place for two nights, on Thursday and Friday, from 9pm to 6am.

The company said the measure is aimed at easing traffic disruptions along the route caused by ongoing construction works on Waiyaki Way.

“To facilitate ongoing construction along Waiyaki Way, a temporary toll-free arrangement on the Nairobi Expressway will be implemented from Thursday, May 7, 9pm to 6am and Friday, May 8, 9pm to 6am,” the company stated.

The company said that the moved is aimed at facilitating traffic flow during night works on Waiyaki Way, specifically on the stretch between GTC and the ICEA Lion area, where construction activities are projected to cause traffic disruption.

Under the arrangement, motorists will be allowed to enter the Expressway via the Haile Selassie Entrance (A) near Bunyala Roundabout and exit at the Nairobi Westlands exit without paying toll fees.

“Please note that this toll-free arrangement only applies to vehicles entering from the mentioned stations. All other toll stations and routes will continue to operate under the normal tolling rules,” it added.

Motorists have further been urged to follow traffic signage and cooperate with traffic marshals who would be deployed to manage the diversion.
