A former member of the Nairobi County Information Communication Technology Executive Committee, was found dead at his Karen home.
The news was confirmed by Sonko on October 11, 2025 who claimed that he had passed away on the night of October 10, 2025.
“I have received the sad news of Mr. Newton Munene’s passing with profound shock. He was a member of my Nairobi county executive for the Information Communication Technology (ICT) sector”, he stated.
While announcing the claims, Sonko added that he had received news that some of his defence witness in the corruption case were being threatened.
“I have reliable information indicating that some former CECMs who served under my leadership and who have volunteered to be my defence witnesses are being threatened and intimidated to not come to court to testify. No level of intimidation or threats will deter me from seeking justice”
