Murkomen Calls for Dismissal of Public Servants Who Criticize the Govt

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has called for the immediate dismissal of public servants who criticize the government or engage in any political sloganeering.

According to CS Murkomen, such behavior is illegal and unconstitutional.

“There is no chief, assistant chief, or police officer who should be caught speaking against the current government. It is illegal and unconstitutional,” he stated.

Murkomen moreover stressed that any public servant who insults the President or participates in chants such as ‘wantam’ or refers to the Head of State as ‘Kasongo’ should not be tolerated in the public service.

He went on to clarify that his remarks were not limited to the current administration but should also apply to future governments.

The CS further reminded public servants of their duty to serve the government and the people, separating their democratic rights from their job descriptions.

“When the elections come, you can vote however you want, no one will stop you, but your place right now is to understand the government of the day, policy of the day, and the implementation of said policies,” CS Murkomen noted.
