Detectives in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County, have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection with the brutal murder of an elderly woman, with investigations now linking him to a second killing in a neighbouring county.
The suspect, identified as Ezekiel Nyongesa Barasa, was apprehended following an intensive manhunt launched after the attack on 84-year-old Florence Khosa.
The elderly victim was admitted to Cheranganyi Nursing Home with serious injuries sustained during the assault, but succumbed to her wounds despite efforts by medical personnel to save her life.

Following the incident, detectives pursued multiple leads and tracked down Barasa, who had gone into hiding.
He was subjected to an identification parade where witnesses positively identified him as the perpetrator of the attack on Khosa.
As investigators dug deeper into the case, new evidence emerged linking the suspect to another alleged killing involving an 86-year-old woman in Tongaren, Bungoma County.
Preliminary investigations have further revealed that the suspect may have sexually assaulted the 84-year-old victim before her death.
Detectives are now conducting forensic examinations and pursuing other critical lines of investigation to reconstruct the events and establish the full circumstances surrounding both offences.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigators piece together evidence ahead of his arraignment in court.
