The former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was impeached under 11 grounds. Because of his impeachment, Gachagua can no longer hold any public office according to the laws.

If somebody was mourning, then he has finished the mourning. The mourning period is over. Kenya must move on; it is not there to listen to you every other day. We must develop the country and that is where President Ruto is taking us. The law says that if you have been impeached you cannot have public office even a nyumba kumi (village elder)

The Prime CS stated as he urged Gachagua to move forward and Kenyans not to try to be deceived by someone who can no longer hold office.

Since his impeachment, Gachagua has rallied most of his supporters in Mt. Kenya region not to give President Ruto electoral votes in the 2027 General election.
