Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya declared he will join the 2027 presidential bid.
In a statement released on Monday, April 28, 2025, Salasya stated that after wide consultation and careful consideration, he felt he would declare his intentions to be a presidential aspirant in 2027.
“After deep reflection, wide consultations of the state of our nation, I, Hon. Peter Kalerwa Salasya, the Member of Parliament for Mumias East Constituency, hereby declare my intention to vie for the Presidency of the Republic of Kenya in the 2027 General Election”, he stated.
According to him, the decision has been made out of a profound desire to offer bold, transformative leadership that will reposition the nation.
“Kenya today stands at a crossroads: We cannot continue exporting our labor and talents abroad while our industries collapse and our youth languish in unemployment. I firmly believe that Kenya must manufacture, innovate and industrialize to create sustainable jobs and unlock the full potential of our people” Salasya added.
Slasya, therefore, mentioned that he will be seeking for presidency under a new political movement.
He noted that the party’s name and leadership structure will be unveiled later this year.
“I invite all Kenyans- especially the youth, the women, the workers, the entrepreneurs, and the dreamers- to join me on this journey toward a new dawn for our beloved country. Together, we can and we shall build a prosperous, inclusive and united Kenya”, he further stated.
