MP Rescues Student Locked Out of Secondary School Over Fees

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has stepped in to support a needy student who had missed the opportunity to join secondary school due to financial hardship.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, January 28, Sudi said he learned about the case through social media and was moved to intervene.

He explained that the student, John Ndungu from Outspan village in Ngeria Ward, Kapseret Subcounty, had failed to report to Samoei Boys High School after his mother, Mary Wanjiru, struggled to raise school fees.

The MP highlighted the family’s difficult circumstances, noting that Wanjiru is a single mother raising two children, including an 11-year-old daughter living with cerebral palsy.

He added that she survives by washing clothes to provide for the family, describing the situation as emotionally distressing.

According to the lawmaker, he intervened to ensure the boy gets an opportunity to continue with his education and pursue his goals.

“I came across John Ndungu’s story on social media, and it hit me hard. This bright boy from Outspan village, Ngeria Ward, Kapseret Subcounty, had missed his chance at Samoei Boys High School because his mum, Mary Wanjiru, was struggling to make ends meet. She’s raising him and his 11-year-old sister with cerebral palsy, washing clothes just to put food on the table. The pain of watching her kids suffer was overwhelming for her,” MP Sudi.
