The body of Multimedia University student Sylvia Kemunto was recovered on Wednesday inside a water tank at the rooftop of a hostel within the institution.
Kemunto was pursuing Mass Communications and Computer Science and was reported missing on Sunday, March 30.
Revealing their last conversation, Sylvia’s mother noted that she had sent her upkeep money through a church elder’s number, and when she tried to reach her daughter to confirm the receipt of the money, her call went unanswered.

The mother then travelled to the institution only to discover that her daughter was missing.
She then reported the matter to Langata Police Station after the school’s management confirmed that her daughter was missing.
Sylvia’s mother also revealed that her daughter had informed her of another student who was making advances at her.
“Sylvia had told me that there was a guy who was making advances at her, she did not like him, but he kept forcing her to be his friend,” Kwamboka revealed.
According to reports, on the day Kemunto went missing, her roommate had gone to church and left her alone in the room.
Kemunto’s boyfriend who is a first-year Electrical Engineering student is said to have visited the room at about 1 PM.
Witnesses have claimed that the guy was later seen dragging a suitcase belonging to Kemunto to his hostel room in a different block.
The suspect’s roommate also confirmed seeing the suitcase in their room, but it was missing the following morning.
The police traced her phone signal to the university compound, and the school management initiated a search for Kemunto on the campus.
A foul smell on Wednesday night caught the attention of the search team, who traced it to a water tank on top of a hostel.
The suspect linked to Kemunto’s death has surrendered to the police after DCI detectives launched a manhunt.
