Kenya has recorded its sixth recovery from the Ebola Bundibugyo outbreak.
The Ministry of Health has so far confirmed that the country has gone 18 days without detecting a new infection.
In an update issued on Friday, November 6, 2026, Health Director-General Dr Patrick Amoth announced that the latest patient, a man, had tested negative for the virus and was being discharged after meeting the required medical criteria.
The latest recovery leaves one patient still receiving treatment, while the total number of confirmed infections remains at nine, including two deaths recorded since the outbreak began in October.
“The total number of confirmed cases remains nine, all from one known chain of transmission, and there has been no spread in the community,” the statement read.
Kenya confirmed its first imported case of the disease on October 6, 2026, after which health authorities identified additional infections among people linked to the initial patient through contact tracing.
The last confirmed infection was recorded on October 19, with the Ministry maintaining that all subsequent cases were detected among people already under quarantine, allowing health teams to isolate and treat them.
The Ministry also announced that 66 people who had been in contact with confirmed patients had completed the mandatory 21-day monitoring period and returned home, while another 52 were expected to complete quarantine by November 11.
