Ministry of Defence Earns Four National Accolades for Excellence

The Ministry of Defence has been honoured with four top national awards in recognition of its performance, financial accountability, and leadership in public service.

Defence Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru said the ministry’s strong showing at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards reflected its commitment to high financial standards.

The ministry was recognised as the Overall Winner in the Public Sector Category and as the Top Performer among all government agencies, highlighting its sound financial management and institutional discipline.

Additionally, two more awards were presented over the weekend in Kisumu, further acknowledging the ministry’s continued excellence in public sector reforms and audit performance.

Mariru said the awards were officially presented to Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya during a ceremony at Defence Headquarters attended by senior officials and department heads.

He also commended the dedication and professionalism of both civilian and uniformed personnel, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to upholding integrity, efficiency, and transformative impact across the Defence sector.

Two months ago, Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina received the ‘Champion For Justice Award’ from the Delaware Community in the US for her work defending young people’s rights.

The award, presented by Governor Matt Meyers, recognises her advocacy and legal efforts to protect Gen-Z citizens.
