Mike Sonko Announces Exit from Alcohol Industry Following Spiritual Shift

The former Nairobi Governor, Mike Sonko, has announced that he will be selling his club in Mombasa after joining a new spiritual path.

In a statement accompanied by a video on Thursday, April 1, 2025, Sonko announced that he has a newfound relationship with God and that this decision has led him to decide to exit the alcohol business.

“Since choosing to leave alcohol and draw closer to God, I have made a firm decision to exit the alcohol business completely,” the former Governor stated.

“I will sell or lease the VIP Club or give away all alcohol stock. This marks a new chapter in my life,” he added.

In the accompanied video, post, Sonko on was seen visiting the club where he casually stated that the business venture could earn him Ksh30 million or more in a single weekend.

Reports indicate that VIP Club Volume is divided into several sections, including four to five bars and features a multi-level layout with vibrant blue LED ambient lighting throughout.

Additionally, the rooms are luxuriously finished with black granite countertops, vessel sinks, gold geometric wall panels, backlit mirrors, and pristine white tile flooring, reflecting an upscale nightlife aesthetic.

This comes on April Fools’ Day, where citizens are wondering whether Sonko is telling the truth or just playing with their minds.
