WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram users mght soon start to pay a fee before using the apps.
According to reports, Meta has announced its preparation to trial premium subscription services that could require users of the platforms to pay a specific subscription fee and might reshape how users interact with social media.
However, the planned subscriptions will not entirely replace free access.
Instead, Meta will introduce premium features designed for users who want more power, privacy and advanced tools.
Further reports indicate that Meta has experimented with paid verification and ad-free versions of Facebook and Instagram in some regions, signalling a future where premium digital experiences come at a cost.
