Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has strongly condemned the attack on Ichuni Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Wycliffe Siocha, describing it as a serious violation of democratic principles and constitutional freedoms.
According to Matiang’i, the incident undermines the right of elected leaders to serve the public without fear of intimidation, harassment, or violence, regardless of their political affiliation.
He emphasized that political disagreements should be resolved through lawful and democratic means such as dialogue and debate, rather than through acts of violence.

The former CS further called on security agencies to launch immediate and thorough investigations into the attack, identify those responsible, and ensure they are prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He warned that failure to act decisively on such incidents risks encouraging impunity and weakening public trust in state institutions.
Matiang’i also urged both leaders and citizens to reject political intolerance and promote peace, especially as the country approaches the 2027 General Election.
He stressed the importance of unity, justice, and respect for democratic values as the foundation of national stability.
The remarks come after MCA Wycliffe Siocha was attacked on the morning of June 4 while at a garage where he had taken his vehicle for servicing.
He sustained injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.
