Marcelo, the former Real Madrid star, received an emotional tribute before the highly anticipated Madrid derby match.
The Brazilian, who donned the iconic Madrid shirt from 2007 to 2022, made a grand entrance onto the pitch just as Kylian Mbappe was receiving the award for January’s Player of the Month.
The stadium erupted in applause as they welcomed back a beloved figure. Marcelo expressed his gratitude to the passionate fans of Madrid while standing alongside his sons, Enzo and Liam.
Together, they posed for a photo with a framed jersey that bore his name and was signed by the current squad.
Luka Modric delivered the presentation, and Marcelo showed his admiration for the veteran midfielder with a respectful bow.
The occasion was made even more special as all the Madrid players, including injured stars like Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, Antonio Rudiger, and David Alaba, gathered for a group photo with Marcelo, who returned to a warm embrace from his former teammates.
Marcelo’s illustrious career began and ended at Fluminense, but it flourished at Real Madrid, where he became a legendary figure.
He joined the club at just 18 years old in 2006 and departed in 2022, having made 546 appearances and won an incredible 25 trophies.
His accolades include 5 Champions League titles, 4 FIFA Club World Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 6 La Liga championships, 2 Copa Del Rey titles, and 5 Supercopa de Espana awards.
