Manchester City to face Real Madrid in Champions League Playoff

The UEFA Champions League draw has finally been done. Manchester City will face defending champions Real Madrid in this season’s Champions League knockout play-offs.

Manchester City and Real Madrid will be facing each other in the Champions League for a FOURTH consecutive season.

The Pep Guardiola side sneaked themselves into the top 24 in the league phase on the final day with a 3-1 win over Club Brugge. However, their low ranking means an early winner-takes-all showdown with Carlo Ancelotti’s European giants.

The map to Munich has been set, with knockout matches looming.

The first leg will take place on either February 11 or 12 at Etihad, while the return match will either be on February 18th or 19th in Munich. The same dates will also apply to the other matches as well.

Champions League play-off draw in full;

Brest v Paris St-Germain

Club Brugge v Atalanta

Manchester City v Real Madrid

Juventus v PSV Eindhoven

Monaco v Benfica

Sporting v Borussia Dortmund

Celtic v Bayern Munich

Feyenoord v AC Milan

In the same week that these fixtures are concluded, there will be a draw for the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals on Friday 21 February.

The results after this knockout stage will finally resolve the opponents for the eight teams that automatically qualified for the round of 16, including the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona and Arsenal.
