During the altercation, the suspect allegedly stabbed Wambui on the right side of the chest using a spearhead, causing severe injuries. He then fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Officers who responded to the incident found the victim lying in a pool of blood outside her shop.

She was rushed to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Her body was later moved to the Kenyatta University Funeral Home, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.

Investigators who processed the scene recovered a bloodstained spearhead believed to have been used in the attack.

The weapon has been retained as evidence as detectives continue with investigations.

Following the incident, police launched a manhunt for the suspect, identified as 59-year-old Charles Maina Karungae Kibue.

Detectives pursued several leads and eventually tracked him to a hideout in Kayole, where he was arrested.

The DCI said the arrest was made through forensic and investigative efforts that enabled officers to establish the suspect’s whereabouts after he fled Mwihoko.

Kibue is currently in police custody undergoing processing and is expected to be arraigned in court to face charges related to the killing.
