Joseph Muriithi, 33-year-old suspect has been arrested for kidnapping a seven-year-old boy in Mwihoko, Kiambu County.
The incident occurred at Savory supermarket in Mwihoko when the parents of the child realized that their son was missing.
” A 33-year-old man has been Joseph Murithi has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a seven-year-old boy in the Mwihoko area of Kiambu County on February 17, 2025, following well-coordinated efforts by police officers and detectives based at the Githurai Police Station” the DCI stated.
“The ordeal began when the child’s parents, while shopping at a supermarket in Mwihoko, suddenly realized their son had vanished. Despite their frantic search, their attempts to find him proved futile” they added.
Moments later, the parents received a call demanding a ransom of Ksh100,000 in order for their son to be released.
After conducting investigation, the suspect was found in his hideout in Githurai Railway area using forensic trails.
The missing child was brought back home and reunited with his parents.
The suspect is currently in custody awaiting to be arraigned in court.
