Kenyan Ambassador and UNEP nominee Mama Ida Odinga has revealed that her personal net worth is Ksh500 million.
She made the disclosure on Friday, February 20, while appearing before the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations for vetting.
Mama Ida clarified that her declared wealth is separate from the assets of the late Raila Odinga’s family, noting that while she has an interest in family holdings, her personal net worth stands at Ksh500 million.

During the session, she also expressed gratitude to President William Ruto for nominating her as Kenya’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme.
Mama Ida Odinga also acknowledged the influence of her late husband, Raila Odinga, noting his role in shaping who she is today.
She thanked President Ruto for nominating her to serve Kenya as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme.
According to Mama Ida, if Parliament approves her appointment, she will focus on preventing environmental destruction and advancing specific environmental priorities.
President Ruto nominated her for the UNEP role on January 23.
In a statement, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei praised Mama Ida’s long career in education and public service, describing her as a respected teacher and civic leader committed to social justice and gender equity.
Ruto forwarded Mama Ida Odinga’s nomination to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.
On February 10, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula referred her nomination to the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations for vetting.
If confirmed by Parliament, Mama Ida will succeed Ababu Namwamba, who was recently reassigned as Kenya’s Ambassador to Uganda.
