Makini School has expressed its plan to appeal the High Court’s ruling of compensating the expelled learners Ksh. 600k.
The ruling which was delivered on Justice Lawrence Mugambi on 6th February 2025 stated that the school violated the dignity of two minors due to their father’s behavior.
The court also ruled that each minor should be awarded Ksh. 600,000.
According to reports, the children were removed from class and handed termination letters by their headteacher Catherine Njuguna who directed the to wait for their parents at the pickup area.

However, the students were able to sue the school through their mothers who claimed that the expulsion was undeserved.
They also explained through their lawyer Advocate Apollo Mboya that the minors were top-performing students and had no history of disciplinary issues.
The school on the other hand sought for an appeal maintaining that the school was a safe and secure learning environment for its 4,600 learners and 300 staff members.
“We are now considering whether to exercise our rights to appeal on this singular issue as we believe the minors were always treated with respect and dignity throughout the exhaustive efforts to resolve the matter” the school said.
