“I am not in this government to whitewash or cover up anything. If things happen that I am not happy with or my conscience cannot live with, I will resign. Because I will not be of any use to the government and to the President if I cannot tell him the truth,” Mutua noted.
Speaking about the Gen Zs protests, Mutua issued a public apology over the deaths and injuries witnessed during the protests.
He described the events witnessed during the June 2024 and June 2025 protests as regrettable.
Professor Makau Mutua was appointed by President William Ruto on April 30 as Senior Advisor on Constitutional Affairs.
In a statement, the President hailed Mutua’s expertise and said he looked forward to working with him.
