Larry Madowo Distances Himself From Russian Army Enlistment Requests

CNN journalist Larry Madowo has broken his silence after hundreds of disturbing messages from Kenyans asking him to connect them to the Russian military fighting in Ukraine.

The journalist took to his X account to address the requests, making it clear he has absolutely no capacity to facilitate any such connections.

“I’ve received hundreds of messages asking to connect them to the Russian army. Please stop asking me,” Madowo stated.

Some also contacted him seeking to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones killed in Ukraine.

“I’ve also received hundreds of messages from families whose sons were killed in the Ukraine war but are unable to retrieve their bodies. I’m afraid I can’t help with that either

So far, at least 10 Kenyans already confirmed dead while fighting on the frontlines in Ukraine.

Among the identified victims are Ombwori Denis Bagaka, Wahome Simon Gititu, Clinton Nyapara Mogesa, and Martin Macharia.

According to reports, many of these men were reportedly lured away from security jobs in Qatar through false promises of well-paying employment, only to be deployed to deadly zones in eastern Ukraine.

According to their families, the recruitment was a fraud, with loved ones disappearing into a war they never fully understood, signing up to fight.
