KWS Limits Tourist Entry to Tsavo National Park

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has temporarily restricted tourist access through one of the entry points to Tsavo National Park after several tour vans were reported stranded inside the park.

In an update issued on Sunday, March 8, KWS confirmed that the situation had been resolved and that all affected visitors were safely escorted out of the park.

The agency said fifteen tour vans that had earlier been reported stranded were successfully assisted and guided out without incident.

As a precaution, KWS also announced the temporary suspension of tourist entry through Sala Gate while authorities continue managing the situation.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) advised visitors and tour operators to stay in contact with their respective travel agencies for updates and guidance following the temporary suspension.

The agency urged stakeholders to remain attentive to further communication and coordinate with relevant travel bodies for any new developments regarding access to Tsavo National Park.

This comes days after warning about heavy rainfall, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) confirmed that some access routes in Tsavo East National Park have become impassable.

The affected routes include Malindi–Sala Gate and Sala Gate–Aruba Area, making travel through these areas difficult for visitors and tour operators.

KWS reassured the public that alternative entry points, including Bachuma Gate and Voi Gate via Voi, remain open, with visitor safety remaining the top priority during the temporary disruptions.
