Kuria Links Sifuna’s Political Rise to Kalonzo’s 2027 Presidential Bid

Former Public Service CS Moses Kuria has claimed that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is being politically positioned for a deputy role rather than the presidency ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during an interview on Sunday, August 9, Kuria questioned Sifuna’s preparedness for a presidential campaign, noting that he has about a year to the election without a political party or a formidable team capable of mounting a nationwide presidential campaign.

Kuria argued that the growing political momentum around Sifuna and the Western Kenya region could be intended to create the impression that the region deserves the country’s top leadership position.

However, the former CS claimed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Democratic Congress Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua had already settled on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as their preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 election.

According to Kuria, the political alignment between Gachagua and Uhuru could see Kalonzo emerge as the preferred opposition candidate despite differences between the two leaders on other political matters.

Kuria further suggested that the campaign to elevate Sifuna politically could ultimately be aimed at positioning him as Kalonzo’s running mate in the 2027 presidential contest.

He nevertheless acknowledged Sifuna’s political abilities, describing the Nairobi senator as a young and capable politician while maintaining that the current political strategy surrounding him may not be geared towards securing the presidency.
