KURA Announces Temporary Closure of Eldoret Road

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced the temporary closure of a section of Eldoret Road in Nairobi.

In a notice on Monday, the authority stated that the closure was to facilitate the construction of a new vehicular bridge over the Nairobi River.

According to the authority, the closure will be in effect for 4 months, from May 18 to September 18.

“We wish to notify the general public that a section of Eldoret Road, Nairobi, will be closed as from 6 AM Monday, May 18, 2026, till 6 PM Friday, September 18, 2026 (Four Months),” KURA’s notice read.

“This is to allow the contractor to undertake the construction of a Vehicular Bridge across the Nairobi River,” it added.

The authority has therefore advised motorists to use alternative routes during the construction period.

The closure is likely to disrupt traffic flow and cause delays for thousands of Ngara, Pangani, and Eastleigh residents who usually use the road.

As a result , motorists have been advised to use parallel local streets in the Eastland area and nearby major connectors to reach Jogoo Road and other arterial roads to the north and south of the closed section.

Alternatively, motorists can use the Ngong Road area connections or link to Mbagathi Road, Lang’ata Road, and the inner connector roads, depending on the destination.

Additionally , KURA also indicated that traffic police officers and marshals will be deployed to guide road users and manage traffic flow along the affected corridor.
