The Kenya Police Service (KPS) has introduced new operational guidelines for three specialised units to improve efficiency, strengthen coordination and enhance accountability in policing.
The new standing orders and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) cover the Quick Response Unit (QRU), Government Vehicle Check Unit (GVCU) and Marine Police Unit.

According to the KPS, the procedures were presented to Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat at Police Headquarters, Vigilance House, in Nairobi by the Directorate of Reforms.
The guidelines will provide a framework for the three units as they carry out their duties, with the aim of improving operational effectiveness and promoting consistency in service delivery.
The introduction of the procedures forms part of the Service’s efforts to strengthen professional policing and ensure officers execute their responsibilities with greater accountability.
The KPS said the initiative reflects its commitment to protecting public safety and improving the delivery of police services.
