The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has announced that the attestation of medical certificates will transition to a fully digital system as of August 3, 2026.
According to the council, the transition from manual to digital attestation will begin on July 20 and run until July 31, after which all medical certificate attestations will be processed exclusively through an online platform.
The new service will only be accessible through the practitioner’s online portal and will be available to licensed medical practitioners who are in good standing with the Council.
Medical certificate attestation is used to verify the authenticity of certificates issued by registered practitioners and is often required for employment, insurance claims, legal proceedings, compensation claims, and other official purposes.
Additionally, the council said moving the service online is intended to strengthen accountability in the certification process by ensuring that medical certificates are verified directly through authorised practitioners.
KMPDC also said the new online platform is expected to improve access to the service while significantly reducing the time taken to process attestation requests.
The council further stated that the transition forms part of its broader efforts to digitise services, strengthen transparency and accountability, and enhance the reliability of medical documentation issued in Kenya.
