Kutui-based blogger Emmanuel Maleve has been apprehended and detained at Muthaiga police station in Nairobi.
The arrest is linked to his controversial article, which her wrote and published linking an MP in Kitui County to corruption.
His disappearance was first reported by activist Boniface Mwangi, who said he had been picked up by police officers under unclear circumstances.
The police officers from the Kitui Central Police Station on the other hand had denied taking the blogger into custody.
Following the article, the MP filed a petition against the blogger which was revealed by which was revealed by lawyer Evans Ondieki.
He further revealed that Maleve had been arrested based on the corruption story he had published and was being detained at Muthaiga police station despite efforts to have him released.
“He was arrested because he published a story on corruption. Funds were allocated for a purpose, and they were never used for that purpose; that is what he communicated, and it led to his arrest”, Lawyer Ondieki said.
