Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have foiled a planned robbery targeting a senior military officer in Kitengela, arresting six suspects, among them two Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers.
In a statement issued on Thursday, March 26, the DCI said the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation that uncovered a criminal syndicate involving both serving KDF personnel and civilian accomplices.
According to the agency, detectives first received intelligence on Monday, March 23, indicating that a robbery targeting the officer was imminent.

Following the tip-off, officers placed the suspects under close surveillance, carefully tracking their movements and monitoring their preparations ahead of the planned attack.
On the day of the planned robbery, the suspects arrived in a black Toyota Harrier, with a Toyota Ractis stationed nearby as backup.
A female suspect stepped out of the Harrier and approached the gate pretending to seek access, but detectives who had secured the area moved in swiftly and arrested her, triggering the interception of both vehicles.

Among those arrested are KDF sergeant Charles Kiio Matata, interdicted service member Samuel Agango Odoyo, civilian mechanic David Ng’aa Mwangangi, and three others: Alex Mumo Kisilu, Richard Mwania Muasya, and Stella Nzuki Mweni.
A search at the scene recovered items believed to have been intended for the robbery, including KDF uniforms, military boots, and tools such as a crowbar, hammer, knife, pliers, and several mobile phones.
The six suspects are in police custody undergoing processing and interrogation.
