Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has stated that six staff members attached to his office lost their jobs following his removal as Senate Majority Whip.
He explained that the staff relied on the Majority Whip’s office and were released immediately after he exited the position.
The affected employees included a personal assistant, principal research officer, secretary, office assistant, office messenger, and a driver.

Khalwale clarified that the staff are employed by the Parliamentary Service Commission and their departure was part of normal parliamentary procedure, as incoming officeholders bring their own team.
Khalwale was relieved of his position as Senate Majority Whip on Tuesday, December 2.
Senate Speaker Amason Kingi announced that he had received official notification from the Majority Party regarding the change.
Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli has been appointed to take over Khalwale’s role, with the replacement taking effect immediately.
Khalwale’s removal is seen as a disciplinary move following his opposition to UDA’s David Ndakwa in the Malava by-election.
Ndakwa won on November 27 with 21,564 votes, narrowly defeating DAP-K’s Seth Panyako, who received 20,210 votes.
Khalwale rejected the results, citing violence, intimidation, and alleged collusion between security forces and criminal elements, and questioned the credibility of the election while highlighting growing political awareness in the region.
