KeRRA Announces Nyandarua Road Tenders Amid Political Tensions

The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has announced tender notices for the upgrading of several key roads, including in Nyandarua.

Reports indicate that the announcement comes days after Senator John Methu openly called out President William Ruto over stalled projects.

Methu made the announcement, suggesting that his call to action to the president was a key factor in KeRRA’s move to upgrade the key corridors.

“You must defeat fear, to be a good leader. I mentioned the road from Murungaru- Gilgil road to the President on Wednesday. It was advertised on Friday,” Methu said in a statement.

According to reports, KeRRA is seeking contractors for the upgrading to bitumen standards of the Murungaru – Tulasha – Gilgil Road and the Gwa Ishangai – Kitogo – Kamba – Mutarakwa – Mutamaiyu Primary and Secondary School Road.

Further reports indicate that interested bidders have been urged to download tender documents from the KeRRA website for free from April 16 2026.

KeRRA also issued an addendum updating details of the road projects. This move suggests the long-awaited Nyandarua roads could now be moving forward after years of complaints from residents.

The Murungaru – Tulasha – Gilgil Road is particularly considered a key transport corridor, since it links part of Nyandarua to neighbouring counties.
