Kenya Launches First National Drone Corridor at Konza Technopolis

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has approved the Konza National Drone Corridor.

In a statement on July 9, 2025, Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA) confirmed the approval.

According to the authority, this will enable the safe execution of long-range drone flights as well as boost the country’s aviation and use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

The Drone Corridor will also be used by various institutions to test and train drone technologies in the country.

“A dedicated and highly skilled Corridor Operations Coordinator will manage the space, ensuring continuous compliance with regulations, optimising operational efficiency, and maintaining the highest safety standards”, the authority stated.

“The corridor offers open access for authorised operators, researchers and training institutions, fostering a dynamic environment for partnerships, knowledge sharing and collective innovation”, the authority added.

Konza further stated that the corridor will open ways for rapid economic metamorphosis by attracting more investment in the country and more job opportunities.
