KeNHA Announces Temporary Closure of Changamwe Section on Mombasa–Nairobi Highway

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has extended the closure of a section of the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway by 11 days.

In a notice on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, KeNHA said that the closure of this stretch will be from Tuesday, September 23, to Saturday, October 4.

According to KeNHA, closure will allow for road construction and drainage works along the route to enhance connectivity between the Makupa Bridge and the Changamwe area.

The authority has therefore displayed a traffic management plan that will require motorists to share a section of the Nairobi-bound road in order to manage the traffic.

During this period, motorists have been encouraged to ensure that they follow directives from traffic marshals who shall be stationed at the section to ensure seamless traffic flow in the area.
