The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) have clarified the methanol poisoning concerns. P
In a statement on October 22, 2025, KEBS explained that all the methanol in the country are denatured by adding a bitter taste chemical called denatonium benzoate.
According to KEBS, all methanol manufactured locally and imported will be added the bitter taste except for laboratory to avoid oral consumption by the vulnerable.
KEBS further assured that all methanol will have to comply with the specific requirements needed.
