Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) is set to unveil its own taxi-hailing app at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
This will aim at targeting passengers travelling to and from the airport in a bid to tap into the lucrative airport transport market.
According to reports, the move followed the authority’s tender advertisement for companies to design and manage a mobile and web-based taxi platform for airport taxis.
Further reports indicate that the development will be under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

KAA is set to launch taxi app for travellers
The selected partner building the app will operate its system and remit a share of revenues back to KAA.
Kaa is expected to operationalise the development of the application.
Reports indicate that the app will focus on regulated airport taxi bookings.
Apart from that , travellers will also enjoy features such as real-time fare estimates, vehicle tracking, automated dispatch and trip notifications.
Furthermore, the app will have location-based technology to create virtual boundaries around approved airport taxi ranks, allowing vehicles to operate only within designated zones.
This will enhance safety, maintain order, and enforce airport regulations by preventing taxis from entering restricted areas.
