Jubilee Rolls Out Parallel Rallies to Popularise Candidates

Jubilee Party has revealed plans to organise parallel rallies across the country as part of efforts to popularise its candidates ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The announcement was made by the party’s deputy leader, Jeremiah Kioni, who said the decision was prompted by concerns that ongoing opposition rallies are largely benefiting aspirants from the Democracy for the Citizens Party.

Speaking on March 4, Kioni noted that the current rally structure does not provide adequate opportunity for Jubilee aspirants to engage voters and outline their development agendas.

He added that the plan to hold separate rallies is in line with an earlier understanding within the opposition coalition that rejected zoning, allowing individual parties to field candidates in any region across the country.

“We have understood that the rallies by the united opposition do not help those who want to vie for other positions, especially those from the Jubilee Party, because we do not get time to tell voters our mandate and campaign for ourselves,” Kioni stated.

The deputy party leader said the party’s aspirants require a platform where they can promote their individual bids while still backing the broader agenda of the opposition coalition.

Kioni noted that since opposition parties had earlier agreed not to adopt zoning, each party must find ways to give its candidates space to begin engaging voters and presenting their agendas across the country.

He further argued that current opposition rallies appear to favour candidates from the Democracy for the Citizens Party, warning that this could place Jubilee aspirants at a disadvantage if the issue is not addressed.

Kioni also alleged that he was denied an opportunity to address a recent opposition rally in Ndaragwa Constituency, an area he previously represented in the National Assembly for about a decade.
