Jubilee party has officially endorsed former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i as their preferred candidate for 2027 polls.
Speaking during a meeting convened by Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni in Nairobi, he said that the endorsement positioned Matiang’i as the party’s flagbearer.
” This members here have joined other leaders of other parties, by also saying that they also want to have their own presidential candidate as a party. We’ve settled Matiang’i as our candidate. Not to mean that he becomes eventual presidential candidate but a presidential candidate within the party who would then join others in coming up with one person who I believe as a coalition we will be able to back” he said.
“This Saturday we will commence registering new members in Kajiado. We shall also inform the public about our decision to pick Matiang’i to be our presidential candidate. Over the last 10 years, we have registered about 7.1 million members” he added.
The announcement comes months after the former Interior CS had declared his interest to as the preferred candidate for Jubilee’s 2027 polls.
According to reports by citizen digital, Matiang’i had already made consultancy agreement with Canadian firm Dicken and Madson to support his presidential bid in 2027.
The reports also indicated that he had already paid a down payment of $65,000 at the time of agreement.
