Jamleck Kamau Withdraws From 2027 Murang’a Governor Race

Former Kigumo Member of Parliament Jamleck Kamau has announced that he will not contest the Murang’a gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 4, Kamau said he reached the decision after extensive consultations, reflection and prayer, adding that he had chosen to step aside from the race with a clear conscience.

The former legislator explained that his decision was informed by his belief that leadership is about serving the public rather than holding elective office.

He maintained that his commitment to the people of Murang’a County and the country would remain unchanged despite his decision not to vie for governor.

“To my supporters in Murang’a County and all Kenyans, after deep reflection, consultation, and prayers, I wish to formally announce that I will not be vying for the position of Governor of Murang’a County.”This decision has been made with a clear conscience and a firm conviction that leadership is ultimately about serving the people not merely seeking elective office. My commitment to the people of Murang’a and to Kenya remains unwavering,” he noted.

Kamau also revealed that he will now focus his efforts on supporting the United Alternative Government, saying he believes the movement’s vision of unity, accountability, justice and prosperity provides a roadmap for Kenya’s future.

According to Kamau, meaningful national transformation can only be achieved through collective efforts by citizens committed to good governance, integrity and people-centred leadership.

He appealed to his supporters, friends and well-wishers to respect his decision and continue working with him in advancing the broader goal of national renewal, urging Kenyans to prioritise the country’s interests over personal political ambitions.
