Lang’ata Member of Parliament Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has announced his intention to run for the Nairobi Senatorial seat in the 2027 general election.
Speaking on Tuesday, February 10, Jalang’o emphasized that he makes his own political decisions and is not influenced by others.
He noted that he has been engaging with Nairobi residents on the ground and is confident about his bid for the Senate.

The lawmaker also confirmed that he will run on an ODM ticket and plans to support whichever coalition ODM joins in the 2027 election.
The ODM MP’s declaration comes just days after he was seen with his predecessor, Nixon Korir, and South C Ward MCA Abass Khalif.
Khalif has also announced that he will run for the Lang’ata Parliamentary seat in the 2027 elections.
The developments come amid growing tensions within ODM, where Nairobi Senator and party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has faced internal pressure.
Party leader Oburu Oginga recently criticized Sifuna for comments that were seen as misleading to ODM supporters and causing confusion over the party’s official stance.
Oburu highlighted that Sifuna has struggled to separate his personal views from official party policy, a situation that has unsettled members and supporters.
The criticism underscores ongoing debates within ODM as leaders and aspirants position themselves ahead of the 2027 general election.
