Alexander Isak scored the only goal as Liverpool defeated Bournemouth 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday to remain unbeaten in the Premier League.
Isak struck in the 57th minute after Cody Gakpo’s work on the right and a move involving Florian Wirtz created the opportunity for the Swedish striker to finish.
The goal was enough to give Liverpool three points in a match in which the visitors struggled to create clear chances. Liverpool managed six efforts on target during the game.
The victory was particularly significant for manager Andoni Iraola, who returned to Bournemouth for the first time as Liverpool manager after previously coaching the south-coast club.
Liverpool now head into the international break unbeaten, while Isak has scored four Premier League goals this season.
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk welcomed the victory and clean sheet while acknowledging that the team could have performed better in attack.
