Reports indicate that the officer implicated in the shooting has been identified as Police Constable Eric Gitonga stationed at the DCI Headquarters.

According to IPOA, the incident occurred early Sunday after an accident involving officer Gitonga and a motorcycle carrying a rider and passenger.

A dispute over who was at fault escalated, during which Gitonga allegedly turned violent and fatally shot both men.

The victims, identified as Kennedy Ojuma and Stephen Mwendwa, are being held at Thika General Kago Mortuary.

Issack confirmed that IPOA has secured key evidence, including OB extracts, signals, and duty rosters from Makongeni and Thika police stations.

Statements have also been recorded from nine officers attached to the two stations.

Issack further confirmed that the officer at the centre of the case has already been presented before a court of law.

In conclusion, IPOA outlined its next steps to ensure thorough investigations are conducted.
