Meta-owned Instagram has been courting Influencers from TikTok amid the uncertainty of the app’s future in the United States.
This was after the app officially increased the length of videos and adding a new editing tool.
Apart from that, Instagram recently began letting TikTok creators earn as much as $5,000 over the course of three months for posting ‘reels’ to Facebook and Instagram.
Meta spokesperson told AFP that the breakthrough bonus for eligible TikTok creators is intended to help jumpstart the growth of the app.
This came after TikTok’s future in the United States remained unsettled.
TikTok faces a US law that ordered the company to divest from its Chinese owner ByteDance or be banned in the United States.
The TikTok ban was passed due to concerns that the Chinese government could use the app to spy on Americans or influence US public opinion through data collection and content manipulation.
After being inaugurated, President Donald Trump ordered a pause on the law enforcement that should have seen TikTok effectively made illegal on Sunday 19th January 2025.
The order directed the Attorney General to delay the implementation of the law for 75 days.
