The National Police Service has dispatched a high-powered security team to Tseikuru in Kitui County following fresh attacks that left seven people dead in clashes between Somali and Kamba communities.
In a statement issued on Sunday, April 26, the service confirmed that Inspector General Douglas Kanja ordered the deployment.
The team is led by Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat, as additional reinforcements continue to arrive in the affected area.

The security team is already on the ground in Kwa Kamari, Tseikuru, where they are overseeing operations aimed at restoring calm.
Kanja condemned the attacks, describing them as a senseless and unnecessary loss of life, and assured residents that thorough investigations are underway.
The Service urged residents of Tseikuru to remain calm and exercise restraint, while calling on local leaders to promote peace as investigations into the deadly attacks continue.
The appeal follows a Saturday evening incident in which seven people, six men and one woman were killed after armed attackers stormed a village and opened fire before fleeing towards Mwingi Game Reserve.
Several homes were also torched, leaving families displaced.
Police indicated the violence is linked to ongoing retaliatory clashes between the two communities.
