Police have been given seven days to submit a comprehensive update on investigations into the killing of lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu, who was fatally shot on the evening of Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
In a statement on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the ODPP commended the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for its ongoing efforts but stressed the need for urgency and thoroughness in the case.
“The DPP has directed the Inspector General of Police to fast-track investigations into this incident and to submit a comprehensive status update… within seven (7) days for review and further action,” the statement read.
The ODPP further directed the Inspector General of Police to fast-track investigations and ensure all critical evidence is properly collected and preserved.
